Random Flower Shots

This entry is for Expat Traveler. I know she loves flowers and, although we can definitely not be acknowledges as being even close to what one would even call a hobby photographer, OrangeX and I took a few very nice pictures and I thought they were worth posting.

Our Rhododendron, two weeks ago:

... and last weekend after a small shower....

... and here are close-ups of the beauty.

A few weeks ago, I also took pictures of the wisteria we have in our garden. Not only are they beautiful, but their scent makes you want to breathe them in.

Hope you have a great week.

BTW, does anyone know whay, when I post pictures, some can be blown up to the larger (normal) size and others not?? Just asking.

Hey thanks :)
Yes I love love the flowers! Ok - yet I'm so bad with names...

I think we have Rhododendron right outside, but they are red but your's are just incredible. Great shots, really!

I'm sure there's lots of wisteria around this area too, but I'm not so sure I could recognize it.

We are almost in between flower seasons at the moment because I see the parks are bare right now but I'm ready for more practice soon.

:)

oh and the blown up photos? I get to pick small, med or large size, I usually just do small or med and every time, they are clickable and blow up. But I think they are in the html and if you don't have two sets of code in there, then the clickable part of the code isnt' there so you can't blow it up...

Hope that helps...

ET- The wisteria comes out early spring in grapes. It's like a vine and they grow like mad! Keep having to cut them back during the whole summer after they bloomed. They smell a bit like lilac, very intense.

On your second comment: "Uhhh. What??" I always use either small or medium size. I'll have to check that.

lovely flowers! I had no idea that wisteria was anything but a street all the desperate house wives live on :)

Do you use blogger to upload your photos?? Because that could be why it's wonky. try using a photo host, like Flickr or picaso or photobucket. Then you will have bunches of options :)

Thanks Xmichra. I've tried Picasa, but I wasn't happy with the uploads (I don't want it to go directly on my blog, which it did everytime!). Maybe I'll have a look at flickr. I see many of you are using it.

I love the Wisteria (I love the Rhododenrdron too but the Wisteria is everywhere in my village right now)!!!

I can click on all of your pics and they come up in a large size. I like Blogger Images for posting pics to my blog but have noticed it can be a bit finicky sometimes!

Ms. Mac. - Wisiteria are really blooming, aren't they? Beautiful. And yes, these picts seem to work fine, but on my previous post, only half of them blow up to large size. Drives me MAD! I'll try flicker. I think you use it, too.

Those are beautiful pictures and gorgeous flowers! I love the wisteria. I think sometimes it depends on how big the pic was in the first place - the resolution, I mean. But I'm not really sure so don't listen to me.

That's what I thought as well at some time, but I've also tried to reduce the resolution and it didn't help. :-(

Hey, that is true! Your rhododendrons Are different! I will try to catch a pic of my mom's next week-end and show them to you! :) BTW: When are you coming back to Quebec and where are you going to live? And is Dale coming back with ya?

MP- I've sent you a mail with answers to your questions :-)

I got giddy when I saw your Rhododendron pics because I had taken some from our Hannover apartment's courtyard the week before our cruise. They looked exactly the same, but something I never saw in the States. And the wisteria reminds me of early spring in Georgia when it is in full bloom. GORGEOUS.

Don't have a clue about why a Blogger pic sometimes doesn't enlarge but it has happened for me once or twice. I used to ONLY use Picasa until I found out about using Blogger (duh!). Now I use Picasa only if Blogger is acting up. I'm thinking the blip is a Blogger thing (finicky!) and has nothing at all to do with you (resolution or anything else). But as Christina said, don't listen to me!

Hey there CanadianSwiss! I just visited you from Babs and have enjoyed reading here this morning. Your stories and pics are lovely! I had to stop off at this post and comment because I absolutely love wisteria. Here in eastern NC, though, albeit beautiful, it is considered invasive, and it will take over your entire yard and the woods. The wooded areas consumed by it are like a purple heaven, putting on a display in the springtime that's breathtakingly beautiful. But if not controlled, it will eventually choke out the trees, kill them, and it will also take over your yard and choke out anything it begins wrapping around. In the fall, when the pods ripen, they pop open and fall from the tree and scatter, and it sounds like firecrackers :) 100000 pods equals MORE wisteria, and it's a never-ending battle. Sadly (well, to me it was), we had to go on a wisteria rampage a few days ago to get it under control because it had begun to take over the rhodedendrons, camelias, azaleas, etc. I almost cried when we had to chainsaw the huge trunk vines (some of them 10 inches in diameter at the base some oak trees. The vines consumed the entire tree. You couldn't even distinguish the trunk of the tree anymore -- it was all wrapped up in wisteria trunk that had been there... oh probably 30 years or more. Kill the wisteria; save the oaks? :(

And on the pics that won't blow up, I have found if you remove them and upload them again, that will most times work (or does for me).

Sorry for the long winded comment. Love the wisteria! Have a great day.
