Has it been that long? or Writer's block?

I sure haven't been a very active blogger lately, huh? I know, and I’m sorry. It’s not that we don’t have anything to report, but things have generally just not been that rosy lately and I just didn't know where to start (writer's block??).
Anyway, since I have not divulged where I work, I can say that I am absolutely B.O.R.E.D. at my present position. The team itself is great, but my work is just NOT fulfilling. Plus, my boss is on travel right now, so I’ve been leaving the office between 3.00-3.30pm because I had nothing left to do. Furthermore, our move to Canada is stagnating (insert the “F” word repetitively right here).
Brenda and Harry were here and although Bren is still on crutches after a knee operation, she managed pretty well walking through Basel. There was somewhat of a tickle fight...

And later "The boys" prepared us dinner while we chatted away. Aren't we two lucky gals?

I’m also happy to report that Selina (O-X’s daughter) has graduated from high school and has been appointed as “exceptional graduate” (her Mum being ill with cancer). She missed out on many hours of lessons because she wanted to be there when her Mom had treatments. No extra help! She will start her RN (Registered Nurse) school in September and wants to specialize in paediatric nursing. Daddy OX is mighty proud of his little girl. Can you blame him? Just look at them; the first official photo of Daddy and Daughter after their reunion:

Selina signing her diploma:

Signed, sealed, delivered. Is that a happy girl, or what?

Then we finally celebrated Pa’s birthday - since he wasn’t feeling well back in March – and I saw Selina for the first time. In case you want to know, she avoided me, but I can’t expect anything else on a first time meet, can I? Still, we had many laughs. Here's OX trying to "feed" (or was it sharing??) one of the ribs I was having with Pa.

Next weekend, we’ll be visiting Heiko and Nicole close to Hannover. That ought to be fun. The weekend after that, we have invited Paolo and Markus (who have just gotten married, by the way) for a BBQ. Let’s hope the weather is good! Then it’s off to Austria for two days with OX alone, then a few days at Pinki and Andreas’, followed by a weekend at Andreas and Suze’s. Did I ever mention that being a social butterfly is VERY tiring??
Nevertheless, we love it. It’s just that our friends and families are all over Europe, so that we’ll need a few weekends after that to just relax and recover. On August 13th, Ma and Pa are coming over for 3 weeks. Yay!

After that, O-X and I are planning a week just the two of us in the first or second week of September. But where?? Turkey, Spain, Portugal?? We’ll see, but we know we both need to spend time away with each other alone.

CS - it was wonderful to see the pics and hear from you!

I do hope the job gets better. At least you have something!

And lots of vacation sounds like fun.

Can't wait to see more pics and hear more from you.

I keep thinking about your restlessness at work, CS. Usually restlessness means change is on the horizon, which you may or may not relish right now. I pray that the Universe will start giving you some answers!

I was so glad to meet OX's daughter! She's gorgeous. Congratulations on her graduation and her future study in pediatric nursing! I wish her the best.

And yes, you two social butterflies tire me out! But then again, that's what your life is all about. You'll have your days soon with OX alone. But first, have a wonderful time with Ma and Pa. I loved his sweet little smile next to OX!

Selina... that's a lovely name, one of my favourites ever since I was about 5 and had a lovely story book about a family of mice and the Mummy mouse was called Selina! Congratulations on graduating to OX's Selina, she looks so happy in the pictures.
I hope all the travelling and visiting will offset the boredom you are feeling at work. Funny you should mention your friens hobbling around on crutches, cos I'm doing the same thing right now!

ET: I guess you're right, I do have something. I just wish it could keep me busier. As for the holidays, nice, but not paid. Still, I will enjoy it :)

Ginnie: Yup. It's quite draining not to know where you're going.

Selina is indeed a beautiful young woman. Not only that, but she's also bright and very strong willed, so she'll reach her goals.

Ex-Shammi: That's such a cute story!

The travelling sure will keep us busy and will be lots of fun. I'm especially looking forward to some time alone with OX ;)

Have a lovely flutterby to all your friends. Hope it does not get too hot for you though.

Swenglish: We will, I'm sure and we don't mind the heat that much (after all that rain we had) :)

Abe: Thanks for the visit. BTW, these were taken with a little Sony D-camera ;)

Oh boy, well let's hope things start getting more interesting very soon. Sorry to hear that the move isn't moving as it should. At least all the social activity will take your mind off of it for a bit.

Blogging should be fun, so if your not inspired, i think it is perfectly okay to take a brake from time to time. You have no other obligation than towards yourself you know.

Well that said, I think this was a great post summering up a great deal. Some good, some not that good - but also that's life is.

I'd like to focus on the good thing and want to send my congratulations and greetings all the way from Norway to Selina - that was impressing!

When it comes to where to go for your vacation in September, that's obvious: Norway of course! You know Tor and I will gladly help you planning and show you around in Oslo! September is a good time and you are more than welcome:-)

Christina: Well, my boss will be back in tomorrow, so that will help... Although only for a week. Then it's off for another 3 weeks of business travel! :(

I will however start looking for a "real" job soon, since our plans for the move are slow right now.

Renny: You're right about blogging. It is fun, but sometimes I have so much to say that the post gets veeery long and time consuming. I should practise writeing more concisely and putting more in one entry :)

Hmmm. Oslo.... Didn't think of that. It's been on my list of places to visit, just like Finland and Sweden. The space, lakes and wooded areas up there remind me so much of home! Thanks for the offer: we will keep it in mind :)

vacation - why not turkey/Greece (Aegean Sea) or somewhere in the Adriatic... my thinking is no pay = need to travel on the cheap. :)

Sorry to hear you've been stressed and bored - never a good combination. Here's hoping there'll be smoother sailing ahead.

WOW.. you have been busy! And don't think too much of the first visit CS.. young women are jsut like that.. especialy when there is so much termoil surrounding her mothers health. You are a super person, don't doubt that.

Take that vacation! You guys need it!

ET: We're looking at different things. Right now, however, it looks like it will be beach!

Jay: Who's ever thought that boredom could cause stress, huh? ;)

Xmichra: Yeah, I know. Basically, we were both there for Pa and not to officially meet. She's not quite ready for that yet. And what do you mean, we've been busy? The busy season is just starting! ;)

If you haven`t blogged, life happened. And btw, have you considered to come to Stonia? Not September (too chilly already) but maybe August? I´d be happy to meet you too.

I am exhausted just thinking about it! :) I am with Tinakala about the not blogging and life happening. It happens to me, too.

CanadianSwiss said...

Tina: Chilly?? LOL. I'm Canadian, remember? ;)

Shelli: We'll be on the road in about half an hour. It's 6:30am. I guess that's life happening, eh?

So much going on. It is quite nice that OX's daughter is in the standing she is, be proud, as I know you are.

Now I understand where the social butterfly (I love that expression, it perfectly fits to you) gets all the needed energy: Being bored at work means saving power for the free time, doesn't it?
But I think it's true: You both should meet on a flower for a while and rest, before flying around gets too exhausting.
OX, your daughter looks great. -Well, in Germany we say: "Der Apfel fällt nicht weit vom Stamm."

CanadianSwiss said...

Babs: You bet. He's one proud daddy!

Big B: We're looking into the different "flowers", but we haven't made up our minds just yet. :)
