For all I care, it can stay like this for a while

This weekend, we took it easy and just did our usual weekend activities such as groceries, cleaning a bit, cooking and plain enjoying each other's company. We woke up this morning around 9am - actually, it was 10am, but we both forgot that we had just changed to summertime the night before. What a beautiful day! Since it was still a bit chilly outside we took our coffee indoors, but I can tell you that if this goes on, we'll be having our coffee on the terrasse every morning.

I then decided to start cleaning up our garden (back yard) short before noon. Yup, the whole 20 sq. meters of it (okay, go ahead. Laugh, but this is Switzerland!) After raking for about 30 minutes I thought: "I can't stand this heat!". We must have had about 24°C (75°F). So I changed from my sweatshirt and jogging pants to shorts and a T-Shirt. Orange joined me and we cleaned-up a bit more. Our oleander is out again and I just can't wait to get the bougainvillea out too! Everything just seems to start blooming around us today. I just can't get enough of it.

It's now short before 7pm and I've been on the terrasse all day long. I even filled out my income tax forms while enjoying the sunshine. Thank goodness for wireless connections! As I write, I can hear and see children playing and giggling on the playgound in front of me. They're enjoying this beatiful weather as much as I am. And Dale? He's been wandering outdoors all day, coming up to us for a cuddle and to roll himself on the warm terrasse and off he was again. For all I care, it can stay like this for a while.

Here's a pcture I took from our home office balcony about half an hour ago.

We'll all be sleeping very well tonight, I suspect. Wishing you all a great week and hopefully, the beautiful weather to go with it!

Wow!You just too fast Expat! :-) I just made corrections and added the pict, although I'm not sure it took it the first time around :-)

Ohhhh. I love it for you. We've had wonderful sunshine these past 2 days but it's still only in the 40's--so unusual for Atlanta. I bet this is the last cold stretch, tho', before we'll be wishing for cooler days again. But you won't hear me complaining for a long time :)

We had a beautiful day too, about 18°C, I think, and we also brought out our oleander for a breath of fresh air. Let's hope it stays this way!

Oleander & Bougainvillea remind me so much of when I used to live in Ascension Island. I love those plants.

I found the same thing last week when I was working in the garden that I got hot really quickly. It's so nice to get outside again. :)

Ginnie - Temperatures like this are quite unusual here as well, but I'm certainly not about to complain it either :)

Christina - Unfortunately, the forecast for the coming week (here at least) will be rain, rain, rain! :-( Hope you have better luck in the Hannover region.

Haddock - I agree. Those plants are absolutely gorgeous. I can't wait for the B'villea to bloom in that blazing dark pink.

We had cold weather. The sun was out and it "looked" beautiful but when you went out into it....you about froze yourself!

Lucky you that you got to turn your clocks ahead, we do that next week. I can't wait because now it's "daylightish" at 5:30 which means I wake up about 5:35ish....next week it will be dark still and I'll get a bit of a respite.

Mr. Fab - Back at work, all right and the weyather has changed to a wet and cooler 12°C (54°F). Guess we have to get ready for typical European April weather. *sigh*

But at least longer periods of daylight. YAY! So I's suggest you get some kind of shutters for your bedroom, Michael :-)

We had an Oleander which finally gave up the ghost last summer. The thing never seemed to fully blossom like the ones down in Southern France until the summer before it died. That summer, for some unexplained reason, it was full of blossoms and thriving and I thought, Wow…finally. Then the next year…she was gone. I’m so sad. I miss her.

The weather was great here too. Yesterday I actually went riding without a jacket. I think the snow is finally gone…knock on wood…toi, toi, toi.

Another expat - Strange about your Oleander, they're ususally quite robust. I hope ours does well this summer. Uhm. Does that expression "give up the ghost" (den Geist aufgeben) exist in English? *giggles* If not, we can still make it one ;-).

I once fell in love with a girl from Switzerland. Later I realised I'd just fallen in love with Switzerland. You are lucky to live there with all that Alpine goodness!

Oooh. A newcomer! Welcome to my blog, Kieran. Ahem... Well let's just say that the Basel area is not really alpine, but the drive to the Alps is certainly shorter than from the UK. :-) Hope you'll visit again.

You can count on it :)

"Does that expression 'give up the ghost' (den Geist aufgeben) exist in English?"

Actually, it does. It's used down south often.

Very interesting. Maybe it's just because I'm so used to hearing the German version that it sounds strange to my ear in any toher language. Thanks for clearing that up.

Rob/Xmichra - We're vrey lucky to have this view. Many of the houses here have a wall (another house) on the one side and the woods on the other.

you seem to have a nice setup, it looks cozy and peaceful. This is my first year on Long Island, outside of New York City, so we'll see, it is quite nice though! swissmiss, hope you're well!!
