We’re Ba-a-a-ack!!

We made it back to Switzerland safe and sound, and arrived at Zurich airport at 6 am, 25 minutes ahead of schedule. I guess we must have has one heck of a tailwind, because of all my trips, I think this one was the fastest ever. The only thing I hate when coming back is the jet lag. I find it worse when travelling west to east. I took a one hour snooze yesterday, we went to bed around 11 pm, but Orange’s snoring and Dale’s loud purring and scratching on the head of the bed (you know, feeling totally at home and cosy type) kept me wide awake. At 3 am I closed the bedroom door, lit the staircase, switched my laptop on and spent the night on the internet. At 7am, I decided to give it another try and I slept until 3 pm this afternoon. I just hope I can sleep tonight!

We had a great time in Canada and had the chance to meet many of my relatives and friends. You can read about our arrival here and about Orange-X’s little mishap here. Just to let you know, the realtor was very easy about it. Actually, she didn’t see it in her mails, but we did tell her about it and she laughed and wished she had received it. She’s really cool. But more about our house search a bit later.

Rewind to our arrival. We had a quiet dinner at my Dad’s on the day of our arrival. The next morning, we visited my Mom, spent the afternoon with her and went back for dinner at my dad’s. While we were gone, Colette, my Dad’s wife, put up her Christmas display and we came home to see this:

Isn’t it beautiful? I love the idea instead of the typical Christmas tree. What a great start to our holidays!

More to come tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Hey, welcome back! Glad you had such a good time. Let's hope the jetlag disappears soon. At least as a "retired" person you can sleep all you want. :-)

That's an adorable Christmas display.

Oh man - All I can say is thank goodness you aren't working right now!

Now it sounds like a busy and exciting visit.

And yes the holiday decor is beautiful! I just hate taking stuff down!

you must talk about how odd it was to have different weather or how your parents thought it was odd... (no snow etc)

Welcome back - did you feel the earthquake at all? from that thermal drilling or whatever...

Christina: Still out of rhythm. Both OX and I were awake at 4am this morning. At least, he won't be late for work ;-)

Fab: She did quite a job, didn't she?

ET: We were very busy, indeed, but it was worth it. As for the earthquake, I didn't feel it. I must have been running up or down the stairs, or something ;-)

Shelli: Yes. I particularly loved the different Christmas figures she put in there such as Santas, snowmen, Nutcracker soldiers and reindeer.

How nice to have a Christmas and New Year holiday with friends and family... too bad about the lack of snow. But all is not lost, I think I saw a snowflake today!

UGH on the jetlag, which really hit Donica last night. It's hitting me this morning because I don't think I slept that well. So I certainly understand.

It's nice to see a bit of your trip here. And yes, that's so cool what your dad's wife did. I love how creative people can be with decorations. I can never think up anything new but I can usually imitate quite well. :)

So glad you're back safe-n-sound. It all came and went too quickly, didn't it!

TBF: You know by now that you didn't wake me up. :)

Ex-shammi: What?!! A snowflake?? Where? Where?!!!

Ginnie: I'm glad to hear that you both made it safely to Germany.

It's such a pity that time goes by so fast. I would have loved to stay a wee bit longer. The next trip over will be for good, though :)

As for the Christmas deco.... Well, now you have new ideas for next year, right? ;)
